Fimea’s medicine consumption statistics are based on sales by wholesalers of medicinal products to pharmacies and hospitals.
The consumption of medicines is given as daily defined doses, proportionate to population and time (DDD per 1,000 inhabitants per day).
The figure indicates in parts per thousand how large a share of the population has consumed a daily defined dose of the medicinal substance daily. The sales prices are given without VAT, as wholesale prices in thousands of euros. An estimated retail price can be calculated by multiplying the figures by 1.6.
The statistics use the latest ATC classification.
