The pharmaceutical dosage form, route of administration and packaging must be stated using the standard terms approved by the European Pharmacopoeia Commission. The terms are defined in English, and their official translations exist in the languages of the Member States.

The maintenance of a list of standard terms for national pharmacopoeia documents will end on 1 January 2016. The last list of national standard terms was published on the Fimea website on 1 July 2015.

Starting from 1 January 2016, all approved standard terms and their definitions and translations can be found in the Standard Terms database maintained by EQDM (European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare). The database requires a registration, but is open and free for all users. The registration takes place on the EQDM website.
