Celebrating National Client and Patient Safety Day on 17 September 2022

The World Health Organisation WHO has declared 17 September the World Patient Safety Day.

Finland is celebrating it with a client and patient safety day. This year, the theme of the day is medication safety with the slogan “medication in safe hands”. The theme of the day reinforces the goal of the Medication Without Harm patient safety challenge launched by the WHO in 2017. The global goal of the challenge is to reduce preventable and serious adverse medication events by more than 50% by 2022.

The responsible organiser of the day is the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, and the Finnish Centre for Client and Patient Safety is supporting the practical arrangements of the day.
