List of medicines

Decision of the Finnish Medicines Agency on the medicinal products list will enter into force on 1 April 2022

Decision was given in Helsinki on 16 March 2022. This decision will enter into force on 1 April 2022.

The Finnish Medicines Agency has by virtue of section 83 of the Medicines Act (395/87) passed on 10 April 1987 decided to approve the following list of medicinal products:

This decision includes a list of the substances and herbals in medicinal use in Finland (Annexes 1 and 2). The decision also includes a list of certain analogs of medicinal substances and pro-hormones which, based on effect, are comparable to medicinal products supplied by prescription (Annex 1A).

The list of medicinal products is a recommendation. The list is not exhaustive.
The definition of a medicinal product is based on the Medicines Act and Directive 2001/83/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the Community Code Relating to Medicinal Products for Human Use. Medicinal products comprise, in addition to those referred to in this decision, the substances classified as medicinal products by the administrative decisions of the Finnish Medicines Agency as well as other substances and herbals which meet the definition of section 3 of the Medicines Act.

- contains 92 analogs and pro-hormones (46 new)

Annex 2 Herbals on the list of medicines
- contains 398 herbs or herbals 
 

The names of the substances and herbals are in Latin, Finnish, Swedish and Englsih.
