The Finnish Medicines Agency (Fimea) grants marketing authorisations for veterinary medicines and protects animal health, public health and the environment by supervising the safety, efficacy and quality of veterinary medicines. Fimea also monitors safety of veterinary medicines, does pharmacovigilance inspections of marketing authorisation holders, oversees clinical trials on veterinary medicinal products, monitors sales of veterinary microbiological agents, and grants special permits for compassionate use.
